When We Train

Summer Training Times (April – September):

  • Mondays 6:00pm – 7:30pm Gym\Boat Session
  • Wednesdays 6:00pm – 7:30pm Gym\Boat Session
  • Saturdays 9:30am – 11:30am Boat Session

Winter Training Times (October – March):

  • Mondays 6:00pm – 7:30pm Gym Session
  • Wednesdays 6:00pm – 7:30pm Gym Session
  • Saturdays 10:00am – 11:30am Boat Session

 

How We Train

Gym Sessions

Our gym sessions are aimed at optimising fitness performance for Dragon Boating, this entails a variety of anaerobic & aerobic activities which result in fantastic full body conditioning workout. We like to mix up the routines to keep it fresh and the body guessing, routines will consist of elements of the following training disciplines:

  • Resistance
  • Plyometrics
  • Core & Functional Stability
  • Circuit
  • Cross Training

For cross training we like to try new activities – recently we took part in a military style boot camp and also a 5k park run.

Boat Sessions

Our boat sessions usually consist of various training drills for both improving "boat fitness" and an effective and efficient paddling technique as well as practice race day scenarios. A session may typically include:

  • Set race distance runs, 200m/500m/1000m
  • Practice race starts
  • Pyramid fitness drills
  • Technique drills
